A trio of Gandharan stone figures from the Indus Valley, ca. 4th – 6th Century AD. They range from 2-1/4” to 3-3/4” high and are carved from the blue-gray schist typical of the area. The first depicts a figure with hands held in prayer, the second is wearing a draped garment that retains much of its red decorative paint and the third is a nicely detailed torso showing a beautiful draped and belted garment. All are individually mounted.

An excellent carver's stool from the April River area of Papua New Guinea, early 1900's. It is 14-1/2” long and is nicely carved on all sides. A well-detailed fox head surrounded by geometric designs decorates one side, while a typical tribal symbol covers the other. The seat itself is surrounded by a serpent design. Lovely patina.

A huge Bwoom Helmet mask from the Bushoong Kuba people of the D.R. Congo. According to legend, Bwoom was sent to Earth by his father (the great God Woot), to establish the Kuba kingdom. This enormous example is 15” high, 11-1/2” wide and is masterfully carved. The face is decorated with inlaid beads and has a finely polished patina. An impressive example with great presence. A large Chimu pectoral from Peru, ca. 1100 - 1450 AD. It consists of 32 pieces, 10 rings and 22 figural forms, each made of silver. They are perforated for suspension or attachment to the mantle of an elite individual. An adorable Colima avian vessel from West Mexico, ca. 250 BC – 300 AD. This wonderful Comala style effigy vessel is 6-1/2” high, 7” wide and depicts a pair of conjoined ducks. They are nicely detailed, with wings on the sides and two-tone red slip. An excellent example of the type, highly burnished, with nice mineral deposits evident.
