An exceptionally large Colima figure from West Mexico, ca. 300 BC - 300 AD. It is 11" high and most likely depicts a ballplayer as indicated by the broad belt and headdress. He is adorned with a necklace, bracelets, perforated ears and a fancy headdress on the elongated head that is characteristic of the Tecoman types. Intact, with good mineral deposits.

A large Maya figure from the Peten region of Guatemala, ca. 250 – 700 AD. This standing figure is 11” high and portrays an individual wearing a long, belted loincloth. He is adorned with a fancy headdress that is topped with the head of a deer, as well as a necklace or broad ceremonial collar. The whistle in his arm emits a deep resonant tone. Good paint remnants and strong mineral deposits. Lost arm and field repairs could be restored.

A fine Jalisco figure from West Mexico, ca. 1 - 250 AD. This lovely Cuisillos example is 5" high and depicts a pregnant female, with hands grasping the heavy belly and the hollow belly button acting as the firing hole. The figure is intact, appears to have been in a fire in antiquity (perhaps ritual burning), has good mineral deposits and extensive calcified roots overall.

A massive Nicoya figural urn from Costa Rica, ca. 1100 – 1500 AD. This huge Pataky polychrome vessel is 13-3/4” high, 12” in diameter and portrays Tlaloc, the Rain God. He is depicted with protruding teeth, large double-ringed eyes and a large mouth mask. The broad rim band consists of the stylized symbols of the man-jaguar motif and there are two guilloche bands representing a pair of intertwined serpents. Intact, with good paint, strong mineral deposits and just a bit of flaking.

A large Nicoya figural vessel from Nicaragua, ca. 1000 – 1500 AD. It is 7” high. 7-1/4” wide and depicts an individual with one hand held to the side of his head, with the other resting on the outstretched leg. The face is nicely detailed, painted designs are used to indicate clothing and jewelry and there are rattles in the hollow legs. Overall in good condition, with vivid paint, strong mineral deposits, minor slip loss and a small repair.

A superb Maya cylinder from the Sula Valley of Honduras, ca. 600 - 900 AD. This highly burnished blackware example is 6-1/4” high, 5-1/4” in diameter and is carved with volute design patterns similar to the "false glyph" designs on the famous alabaster vessels from that region. A beautiful piece in great condition, with stucco remnants in the grooves and just a barely visible hairline crack.
