A lovely Nicoya polychrome bowl from the Guanacaste region of Costa Rica, ca. 1000 – 1350. This fine Papagayo Polychrome vessel is 5-3/4” in diameter and features a mythical avian creature in the tondo. Red and black linear décor covers the walls inside and out. Vivid paint, strong mineral deposits and just a small, stabilized pressure crack.

A lovely Nicoya figure from Costa Rica, ca. 300 BC – 300 AD. This rare Chaco Black on Red example is 5-3/4” high and depicts a female, seated with legs crossed and hands holding the belly. She is adorned with a segmented appliqué necklace and the characteristic body décor encircling the breasts, on the shoulders and face. The spine is protruding along the back.
