A superb Maya cache vessel from Guatemala, ca. 400 - 800 AD. This excellent zoomorphic vessel is 5-3/4" high and depicts a canine deity. The superbly detailed head, spindly legs and genitals are all appliquéd to the black-slipped chamber. A rare type, in excellent condition, with strong mineral deposits.

An excellent Maya censer (incense burner) from the Pacific slope region of Guatemala, ca. 400 – 800 AD. This fine ceremonial vessel is 9” long and has a handle sculpted in the form of a nicely detailed monkey holding the bowl. He is adorned with large ear spools and a ceremonial bib. Intact, with strong mineral deposits, signs of usage and just a minor repair.

A fine Maya cylinder from El Salvador, ca. 400 - 700 AD. It is 6-3/4 inches high, 5 inches in diameter and features four panels with deeply carved linear designs. The broad rim band retains remains of creatures painted in blue over the red stucco, with the vertical stucco columns between the black panels also showing remnants of designs. There is an old field repair, else it’s in good condition, with heavy mineral deposits and much of the rare red and blue stucco remaining.

MA2176 – A rare Maya fish bowl from the Tiquisate area of Guatemala, ca. 250 – 600 AD. This fine pedestal bowl is 8-1/4” in diameter, with the appliquéd head, tail and fins projecting outward from the rim. The head and tail are beautifully detailed and the vessel has strong mineral encrustation.
