A choice Nazca bowl from Peru, ca. 500 – 600 AD. It is 5-3/4” in diameter and features a star design with an unusual central dot, which turns it into a phytomorphic motif. One interpretation of the motif is that it represents a bisected San Pedro cactus, highly prized for its hallucinogenic properties. The walls of the bowl are decorated with alternating black and white linear décor, perhaps representing the spines of the cactus. Intact, with vivid paint and good mineral deposits...

Beautifully made from split reed, most likely Carrizo, with flattened points on both sides. This rare textile weaving tool is bound with the brown and tan braided thread typical of Chancay textile manufacture and retains a small handle. Choice example, with lots of alpaca hair.

His arms are wrapped around the updrawn knees and his cheeks are extended, with rods projecting from the open mouth. He is adorned with large ear ornaments, nose ring and bracelets. Heavy mineral deposits, head reattached.
