A lovely Nicoya figure from the Guanacaste region of Costa Rica, ca. 500 – 800 AD. This fine Huerta Incised type female is 7-1/4” high and is depicted squatting, with legs tucked under her thighs. She is adorned with ear ornaments and a necklace, and her arms and headdress are decorated with the crisply incised designs characteristic of the type. The hollow legs contain rattles. Highly burnished, with strong mineral deposits overall.
