A superb Jamacoaque platform group from Ecuador, ca. 300 BC – 400 AD. It is 7” wide and depicts a pair of shamans inside a corral, flanked by a pair of birds. They are wearing elaborate feline masks and headdresses and extensive ceremonial regalia indicative of an important transformation ritual. Each shaman is adorned with a broad necklace, large chest pectoral, long ear ornaments, matching bracelets and layered garments. In excellent condition, with vivid paint and good mineral deposits.
